Personal care at home

Respectful help with personal routines

Support with washing, dressing, toileting and getting ready is provided at your pace, in the privacy of your own home.

How it works

Your preferences lead the visit

Personal care is discussed carefully during your assessment. Your plan records how you prefer to be supported, what you can do independently and anything a carer needs to know before helping.

During a visit

Help can be simple or more involved

A visit can focus only on the personal care tasks you need. Other agreed support, such as breakfast or medication, can be planned around the same routine.

  • Washing, bathing and oral care
  • Dressing, grooming and toileting
  • Moving safely through an agreed care plan

A careful start

Talk through what feels comfortable

It is normal to feel unsure about accepting personal care. The home visit gives you time to explain what you need and ask how support would work before making a decision.

Your next step

  1. 01

Choose how you want support to be given

  2. 02

    Record routines and privacy preferences

  3. 03

Ask for changes if something is not working
